Art
Thomas Hoving, former director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, defined art in this way- “Art happens when anyone in the world takes any kind of material and fashions it into a deliberate statement.” This definition obviously encompasses quite a bit. Art can be anything from simple crafts to elaborate paintings. Art also doesn’t follow standards set by society. Therefore, artistic expression can be rather shocking at times. However, the art is usually accepted more easily at a later time. Art has continued to change throughout history. New media and new techniques have been invented and artists have chosen different views to express in relation to their world.
